Another piece commissioned by Phil Velasquez. Once again, he asked me to use a picture of his friend Jenny for the face reference
The story he provided for this piece is as follows:
"Jenn was once a space explorer charting different planets. She volunteered with other pilot to explore an uncharted planet, such a trip would take several months! So they were put into suspended animation tubes As they neared the uncharted planet the spacecraft they were traveling in malfunctioned, crashing into the dense forest of the planet! The crashed released both pilots from their tubes, Jenn awakened only to find the other pilot had died from her injuries. She only managed to get one message out before the radio died. Was now left alone with no way to contact a possible rescue attempt and she only had some food that she now had to ration. Finally she had to start eating fruit from the planet and as time went on she noticed small changes, her skin changing color, small roots growing from her feet and some from her fingertips! For a year and a day she survived on this planet, during this time the planet was speaking to her, asking her to join with it. Slowly the planet lured her into taking root and she did! She started to change into an alien like dryad, she could no longer move except for her head. One day she looked up into the sky and saw a spacecraft high up in the distance. It was the rescue spacecraft! They were looking for her human idenity signal but could not find it, since her body was now plant!"
Wow! This artwork and concept are really amazing! I have a similar concept of futuristic Dryads but I've never seen anything remotely close! It's so inspiring to see! I don't usually post links to my stuff on other peoples pages but I think you might really like this[link] And your friend Phil might like it as well.
